“The great efforts made by the Serbian government and all other state institutions to bring our country closer to the European Union are now giving concrete results. After years of suffering, wars and isolation, owing to lengthy and painstaking work to normalise the situation in the country, we saw the day when our country has been accepted by Europe and began its way towards the European integration,” Patriarch Pavle said.
Patriarch Pavle recalled that the Serbian Orthodox Church has always been and will always be an advocate of unconditional respect, friendship and understanding toward all peoples.
The Patriarch expressed hope that the positive feasibility study will contribute to the improvement of the situation in the country and the condition of the state union of Serbia-Montenegro as well as offer more options to the state in seeking preservation of Kosovo-Metohija within the country’s borders.
