Cooperation of Serbia, United States in field of energy

Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic and Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs of Secretary of State John Kerry Amos Hochstein reached today in Washington an agreement on cooperation of Serbia and the United States in the fields of energy, diversification of supply and energy sources.
At the meeting held at the US State Department, the officials also reached an agreement on the improvement of energy safety of Serbia.
Antic expressed the readiness of Serbia to further strengthen cooperation on joint projects in the energy sector with the United States.
Hochstein expressed understanding for Serbia's position in terms of energy diversification, and conveyed the full support of the United States for the fulfilment of the objectives set.
During the talks, it was agreed to continue dialogue and concrete cooperation on these issues.
On the same day, Antic met with the representatives of the company Southern, one of America's leading energy companies.
The meeting dealt with the possibility of realisation of the project of building a new thermal power plant with the use of "TRIG" technology, by which electricity is produced through coal gasification to the highest environmental standards.
An agreement was reached that representatives of Southern, as part of a delegation of the US Department of Energy, visit Serbia by the end of July in order to define concrete steps in the realisation of this very important joint project.
