Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica pointed out during a meeting with UN High Representative for Bosnia-Herzegovina Paddy Ashdown that it is important for Serbia-Montenegro to get a positive assessment of the feasibility study and recalled that finding an adequate solution to the functioning of the state union’s parliament clearly showed Serbia-Montenegro’s firm resolve to European integration.
Ashdown said that the results achieved by Serbia-Montenegro are significant and that talks on the stabilisation and association agreement with the EU may begin soon. He pledged for continuation of cooperation between Serbia-Montenegro and Republika Srpska in order to fully meet obligations toward the ICTY.
Kostunica said that the model of voluntary surrender that the Serbian government has undertaken has provided concrete results and added that the very good level of cooperation achieved with Republika Srpska in that sense will be continued.
Ashdown said that the forthcoming reforms in Bosnia-Herzegovina will not jeopardise the status of Republika Srpska as defined by the Dayton Peace Accord.
Kostunica said that it is necessary to preserve the Dayton Peace Accord as it guarantees stability in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
