Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Radomir Naumov and Bulgarian Minster of Energy and Energy Resources Miroslav Sevlievski signed today in Sofia a Memorandum on connecting the gas systems of Serbia and Bulgaria, adding to conditions for the launch of a construction project to create a regional gas pipeline from Dimitrovgrad to Nis.
The Serbian Ministry of Energy and Mining stated that the construction of this gas pipeline is of crucial importance for expanding Serbia's gas infrastructure south of the Sava and Danube rivers. Completion of this project will also create additional possibilities for bringing in an alternate supply of natural gas to Serbia, as well as connect it with the gas corridors of Western Europe.
The approximate value of the pipeline project is $60 million and it will allow for greater safety and quality of the consumer supply, reduce transit costs and further enhance conditions needed for the construction of a gas network in central Serbia, it is added in the statement.
