Government grants guarantees to General Lukic

Belgrade, 7 April 2005

The Serbian government brought at its session today a Conclusion on granting guarantees for General Sreten Lukic to the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY). The government also adopted a Bill on ratification of the textile agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the European Union and a Conclusion on measures for accelerating the process of restructuring of public companies.

The government approved a Bill on the public debt and several bills on providing counter guarantees of the Republic of Serbia to Serbia-Montenegro on the basis of loans of the European Investment Bank for financing several infrastructure projects.

A Bill on amendments to the Law on court fees was also adopted.

The government approved annual business plans of the forest and water public companies Srbijasume and Srbijavode for 2005.

At its session today, the government also decided on the number of first year university students for 2005/2006 academic year and the amount of tuition fees. The government decided to allocate budgetary funds to the Ministry of Culture to finance the National Theatre in Belgrade and the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad.

The government will grant awards for courage and humanity to life-savers in Brodarevo, who will receive a one-time award of 50,000 dinars.

The government accepted the Information on regulating the debt of Nikola Tesla thermal plant, i.e. EPS power supplier, to the Paris Club of creditors.

The government accepted the Information and passed a Conclusion on measures necessary for procuring mineral fertilizers for 2005 autumn season as well as the Decision on the prices of medications for human use.

The government accepted the Information and adopted the Conclusion on necessary measures to start applying the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Interest.

The government passed the Conclusion on giving approval to the 2005 budget of telecommunication company Telekom Srbija AD Beograd, as well as the Conclusion on giving necessary approval to Telekom Srbije’s 2005 business plan.
