Minister of Justice Nikola Selakovic met today with special adviser of the government of Serbia in the process of European integration and former Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini discussed the progress of Serbia in the process of European integration, as well as with the steps that have been made in order to improve the Serbian judiciary.

Selakovic presented Frattini the legislation adopted in the past year – the laws on whistleblowers, mediation and others.
The Ministry of Justice is working other important draft laws relating to protection of right to trial within a reasonable time and legal aid as well as the strategy on investigation of financial crime.
Frattini said that Serbia is making good steps towards the EU and pointed out that the Action Plan for negotiation of Chapter 23 is well received in terms of technical quality within the institutions of the European Union.
He also pointed out that Serbia needs to simplify administrative procedures and make the laws more understandable, which is of importance and interest for all citizens.
Selakovic said that work on the Action Plan for the negotiation of Chapter 23 is in the final stage and pointed out that Serbia will fulfill everything in order to open Chapter 23, according to a statement by the Ministry of Justice.
