Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica received today representatives of Serbs who were expelled from the village of Svinjare in Kosovo-Metohija on March 18, 2004 and whose return to the province is still uncertain.
The delegation presented the Prime Minister with the concrete problems that the expelled persons are facing, such as reconstruction of destroyed houses and infrastructure as well as energy supply.
There are still not adequate conditions for the return of expellees as there are no guarantees for their safety, it was concluded at the meeting.
Kostunica stressed that the Serbian government is ready to help as much as possible and to pledge with KFOR, UNMIK and representatives of the international community to find a solution to the problems of expellees.
Around 580 expelled Serbs from the village of Svinjare are ready to return to their homes as soon as necessary and suitable conditions exist.
