Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic met today with Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and they agreed that there is a strong commitment to improving the already good cooperation in the field of defence, and the overall bilateral relations.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Defence, at the meeting it was stressed that the two nations build friendly relations for the next 50 years and that proof of this are political relations that are at the highest level.

Gasic pointed out that the visit of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Serbia has given a special contribution to the development of bilateral cooperation, as well as his friendship with Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.

The Minister of Defence proposed the establishment of cooperation on new projects of common interest, such as transfer of technology for the production of ammunition of different calibres, armoured combat vehicle Lazar 2, a combat plane Lasta and Kobac, and IT security.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation with Serbia and pointed to respectable capacity of the Serbian defence industry, as well as great potential for its improvement.

The United Arab Emirates have been offered education and training of the armed forces in military educational institutions in Serbia, the utilisation of the capacity of the Regional Centre for CBRN training of staff in Krusevac and of the base Jug, the training of military-police and special units, as well as cooperation in the field of military medicine and the fight against terrorism .

The main areas of cooperation to date have been military-economic, scientific- technical and military cooperation.

Gasic, who leads the delegation of the Ministry of Defence, met in Abu Dhabi, on the sidelines of the 12th international exhibition and conference dedicated to military and innovation technologies "IDEX 2015", with colleagues and military officials from the region and the world, it is added in the statement.
