Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Srdjan Verbic spoke today with OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities Astrid Thors.
The statement says that Tohrs praised the activities of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development on improving the education of national minorities in Serbia.
During the talks, Verbic informed the representatives of the OSCE about the future steps on the improvement of education in minority languages, as well as about planned activities related to the creation of a special action plan for the education of minorities.
The Education Minister stressed the importance of education in minority languages in higher education institutions and announced a joint visit to Bujanovac where construction of the building of the Subotica Faculty of Economics will begin tomorrow.
The construction of this building will provide modern conditions for teaching in Serbian and Albanian in Bujanovac.
Verbic and the OSCE High Commissioner also discussed measures that Serbia has taken to improve the situation of the Romanian minority in eastern Serbia.
They expressed the hope that Serbia will continue to work on improving education and ensuring a high level of protection of minority rights, it is added in the statement of the Ministry.
