Mihajlovic, who together with President of the Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin visited the construction works on new tracks of the Belgrade-Pancevo railway, on the section Pancevo Bridge-Pancevo Glavna, recalled that this railroad is being built with the funds of the Russian loan worth $ 800 million.
She explained that on the railway Belgrade-Pancevo, the trains will run at the speed of 120 kilometres per hour, and stressed that the objective is to make this an average speed of all trains on the Serbian railways.
After laying new tracks at the Krnjaca train stop, Yakunin expressed satisfaction with the work, noting that this is a very important project for Serbia and Russia.
The dynamics of work in the coming year will be even faster than planned, Yakunin pointed out and explained that today a new section of works is being opened, at which new, advanced technology will be used.
The Russian Railways, as he said, signed two additional contracts with the Serbian CIP institute, with whom they will carry out works on the Belgrade-Novi Sad section and it is expected that the plan for this section will be completely fulfilled.
The reconstruction, construction and modernisation of the second railway line is the first project from the Russian state loan for the modernisation of the Serbian railways, whose implementation began on 25 March this year.
The value of the venture is $91 million, of which $78 million is from the Russian loan, while $13 million, or 15% of the value of the loan, is provided by the state of Serbia in the form of the down payment.
The contractor is Russian company RŽD International, founded by Russian Railways, which is in charge of the Russian loan for modernisation of railways in Serbia.
