The Serbian government’s Office for assistance and rehabilitation of the flooded areas stated today that the Italian government, at the proposal of the Office, approved the financing of a project worth €800,000 for the clean-up of flood damages caused to the water management infrastructure.
This grant, in the amount of approximately RSD 93.6 million, will be used for the reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure for flood protection which is in the jurisdiction of public water management companies Srbijavode (RSD 56.6 million) and Vode Vojvodine (RSD 37 million).
The reconstruction works will be done in Ub, Ljubovija, Smederevska Palanka, Knjazevac, Surdulica, Sremska Mitrovica and Sid.
The donation contract with Italy will be signed soon, after which the preparations for works will start.
The Office for assistance and rehabilitation of flooded areas expressed gratitude to the government of Italy for its understanding and willingness to meet Serbia’s priorities in flood relief rehabilitation projects.
Director of the Office Marko Blagojevic said that the government of Serbia, through the payment of financial assistance to citizens, has invested to date more than RSD 3.5 billion in the reconstruction of damaged and destroyed homes.
