The government of Japan approved to the government of the Republic of Serbia €3 million to help repair damage from the May floods.
An agreement was reached between the two governments that the funds be spent for projects of rehabilitation and reconstruction of the most critical water facilities damaged by the floods.
Specific activities related to the elimination of the consequences of flooding at critical locations in the water area of the Lower Danube, Sava and Morava rivers, which fall under the jurisdiction of the Srbijavode in the following precisely defined sectors:
- in Valjevo, on the river Kolubara;
- in Osecina, on the river Jadar and rivers Ostruzanka and Lovacka Reka;
- in Krupanj on the rivers Cadjavica, Krzava, Bogostica and Likodra;
- in Loznica on the river Jadar;
- in Cacak on the river Cemernica, and
- In Gornji Milanovac on the river Despotovica.
In order to ensure transparency and control of purposeful use of funds in accordance with an agreement with the government of Japan, the government of the Republic of Serbia will open a separate dedicated account only for this donation.
A total of 359,213 inhabitants of the cities and municipalities covered by these activities will feel direct benefit.
