Director of the Office for Human and Minority Rights Suzana Paunovic met today with a delegation of the Secretariat of the Council of Europe (CoE), which is on a visit to the Republic of Serbia with the aim of regular reporting on cooperation and progress in meeting statutory obligations of Serbia to the Council of Europe.

A statement by the Office for Human and Minority Rights says that the delegation of the Council of Europe was headed by Deputy Director of the Directorate for Policy Advice of the Secretariat of the Council of Europe Daniil Khoshabo, who expressed a special interest in the enforcement of anti-discrimination policies and in the status of national minorities in Serbia.
Paunovic presented the activities that the Office for Human and Minority Rights is carrying out in the fight against discrimination and the promotion of tolerance, and on the improvement of the position of vulnerable groups, including national minorities.
She particularly emphasised the importance of cooperation with the Council of Europe Office in Belgrade in the implementation of measures aimed at improving the position of persons belonging to national minorities and LGBT people in Serbia and support provided by the Council of Europe in a number of important activities, including the drafting of an action plan for the implementation of the Strategy for prevention and protection from discrimination, it is added in the statement.
