Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic met today with a delegation of Russian retail chain DIXY, headed by Vice President for Logistics and Imports at DIXY Group Marat Magkeev.
Representatives of the third largest retail chain in Russia, which has more than two thousand retail outlets across the country, expressed interest in increasing imports of fruits and vegetables from Serbia.
DIXY has so far imported small quantities of goods from Serbia, but after Russia imposed sanctions on the import of food products from the EU, the company has expressed interest to increase the import of Serbian fruits and vegetables as well as other foodstuffs.
Representatives of DIXY today held a meeting with the largest producers and exporters of fruits and vegetables in Serbia.
It is expected that DIXY will sign contracts with Serbian partners and that the first deliveries of goods to Russia will start as early as next week, according to a statement by the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications.
