Interior Ministry commences work on action plan for Chapter 24

The Ministry of the Interior has announced that work has begun on the development of the action plan for Chapter 24 – Justice, freedom and security.
The action plan for this chapter is being made on the basis of the Report on the screening of harmonisation of legislation of the Republic of Serbia with the EU acquis in this field since 25 July, and the recommendations of the European Commission in the report made following its explanatory and bilateral screenings.
During the explanatory screening, held from 2 to 4 October 2013, the European Commission's delegation presented the relevant acquis.
At the bilateral screening held from 11 to 13 December 2013, the Republic of Serbia presented the level of compliance of its legal system with the EU acquis.
The first meeting with civil society organisations, especially those in the working group for the area of freedom, security and justice of the National Convention of the EU in Serbia and other interested organisations is planned to start in September this year and will be prepared in cooperation with the Office for cooperation with Civil Society.
