Stronger cooperation with US in internal affairs

Minister of the Interior Nebojsa Stefanovic spoke today with US Ambassador to Serbia Michael Kirby about possibilities for improvement of bilateral cooperation of the two countries in the field of internal affairs.
Stefanovic and Kirby discussed US assistance in combating economic crime, such as the underground economy, the production and distribution of excise goods, tax evasion and more.
Kirby expressed readiness of the United States to help the Serbian Ministry of the Interior through ICITAP and OPDAT programmes of the US Department of Justice in combating the above forms of economic crime and the smuggling of goods across the administrative border with Kosovo-Metohija.
The two officials also discussed the recent floods that hit Serbia, the commitment and contribution of the Serbian Ministry of the Interior in that matter, and the timely preparation for new emergency situations, reads a statement by the Ministry of the Interior.
