Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said at a meeting with a delegation of Serbia-Montenegrin businesspeople operating in Russia that the state union attaches great importance to economic cooperation with Russia and that the Russian market represents a great export opportunity for Serbia-Montenegro.
Kostunica recalled that economic issues dominated his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin last year and he stressed the importance of setting up a joint commission on economic cooperation and of the implementation of the existing free trade agreement between the two countries.
The businesspeople said that they have achieved significant results in the Russian market and thus proved the knowledge and reputation of Serbia-Montenegrin businesspeople, especially in the construction industry.
They noted that the implementation of a debt clearing agreement is of great importance for the realisation of current and future business projects.
Kostunica and the businesspeople also agreed that visits to Russia by Serbian line ministers are of great significance for further cooperation and they expressed conviction that Serbia-Montenegrin firms could increase their presence in the Russian market.
