Further development of cooperation of Serbia, UK in field of defence

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic and British Ambassador to Serbia Denis Keefe noted today that cooperation in the field of defence is the best part of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Gasic thanked the United Kingdom on the initiative, financial aid and support in the process of establishing a new NATO Trust Fund, aimed at elaboration and destruction of the remaining lethal ordnance in Serbia and the improvement of capacity of the Technical Overhaul Institute in Kragujevac.
The two officials also discussed work on prevention of corruption and they examined the possibility of a joint participation of Serbia and the United Kingdom in military medical exercises.
The Minister said that the relevant ministry is interested in the exchange of experiences in the field of Common Security and Defence Policy of the EU.
He thanked the British Embassy on the donation of 67 radio stations for the needs of field teams of the Department for Emergency Situations of the Serbian Ministry of the Interior during the catastrophic foods that hit our country.
Gasic sent an invitation to British Minister of Defence Philip Hammond to visit Serbia.
