During the meeting, which was also attended by head of the Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija Nebojsa Covic, it was agreed that the task forces dealing with energy issues and return of the missing initiate talks as soon as possible.
The Serbian Prime Minister proposed that two more significant topics also be included - privatisation and environmental protection, and that task forces on these issues be formed in the shortest time possible. UNMIK chief Jessen-Petersen welcomed this proposal.
The two officials discussed participation of the Serbian side in decentralisation talks and agreed that a practical, flexible and adequate solution should be found for involvement of Belgrade representatives as part of the Serbian delegation.
Kostunica stressed that it is necessary to significantly progress the situation so as to reach acceptable standards, primarily bearing in mind the existing state of human rights, particularly of the Serb and non-Albanian communities, freedom of movement and a complete absence of the return of the displaced. He said that Kosovo Serbs agree on the crucial issues of standards as well as on the province’s status.
