The river Mlava is now threatening the Drmno village, which is in the immediate vicinity of the Drmno mine and the Kostolac B thermal power plant.
So far 150 people have been evacuated from the workers’ village of Drmno. They were given accommodation in the sports hall Kostolac, where they receive medical and other aid.
The army, police and employees of the company Termoelektrane – Kopovi Kostolac are trying to slow down the river Mlava as much as they can with the machinery and sand bag barricades and thus prevent its invasion towards power facilities.
The evacuation of the machinery from the Drmno mine from lower to higher floors is currently underway, as well as protection of transformer boxes and the erection of protection dams to keep the water as far away as possible from the Kostolac thermal power plant.
For now there are enough hands working on the erection of dams, it is added in the statement.
