Strengthening overall relations between Serbia, Japan

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Mrkic met today with former Minister of Education of Japan Takashi Kosugi and discussed with him the improving of overall relations between the two countries.

Mrkic expressed gratitude for the humanitarian, developmental and technical assistance of Japan to Serbia.
He also expressed special thanks to Itsuko Teruoka, who was on 28 March awarded a gold medal for outstanding achievements in the field of humanitarian activities.
Kosugi expressed readiness for further development of bilateral relations with Serbia in the field of environmental protection, as well as strengthening parliamentary, cultural, educational and economic cooperation.
He also expressed his gratitude for the assistance that the government and people of the Republic of Serbia sent to Japan after the devastating earthquake and tsunami that struck his country in March 2011.
