Austria supports Serbia’s EU integration

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Mrkic said today that cooperation between Serbia and Austria at different levels is very good, and recalled that Austria is one of the countries that has provided assistance to Serbia on the road to EU.

Mrkic, who as a member of the delegation of the President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic on a two-day official visit to the Republic of Austria, said that the relations between the two countries are at the highest level.
Austria has provided clear support for the start of negotiations between Serbia and the EU, he recalled and said that the talks by the President of Serbia led in Vienna were constructive and friendly.
The two countries' plans to together mark the centenary of the Great War, thus showing that they are resolved to strengthen their cooperation and look towards the future, Mrkic said.
President Nikolic met with Austrian President Heinz Fischer, Parliament Speaker Barbara Prammer and the heads of all Austrian parliamentary groups in Vienna on Thursday and spoke to Austrian businesspeople and representatives of the Serbian diaspora in the country, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
