Establishing strategic partnership with UAE in field of defence

Minister of Defence Nebojsa Rodic met today with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and UAE non-resident Ambassador to Serbia Abdulaziz Nasser Al Shamsi.
During the meeting it was agreed that the development of relations between the two countries to date represents an excellent basis for the intensification of cooperation in the field of defence.
Up until now, results are evident in the fields of military economic and military cooperation, initial forms of cooperation have been established at the level of military security agencies, military police and special units, and in the field of information and communication technologies and cyber defence.
The delegations of the two countries agreed that in the near future, it is necessary to examine the possibility of cooperation in the field of military education and medicine, and exchanged opinions on the political security situation in the region and the world.
During the talks it was noted that several high-level visits and visits on the level of expert groups were made in 2013, and was pointed to the need of keeping the continuity of such visits.
Serbia and the UAE signed the Agreement on cooperation in the field of defence and the Joint statement on the establishment of a strategic partnership, reads a statement by the Ministry of Defence.
