The Serbian government assessed at its session late today that the intention of provisional institutions of self-government in Kosovo-Metohija to form Kosovo armed forces is a gross violation of UN Security Council (SC) Resolution 1244 currently in force and that the KFOR international mission is the only one that has the mandate of armed forces in the southern province.
The government highlights that such actions are destabilising the situation in Kosovo-Metohija and are in contrast with the process of normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina. The government will initiate the resolution of this problem before the UN.
In addition, the government noted that the security situation in Kosovo-Metohija has been deteriorated by pressures and attacks on ethnic Serbs, and by prohibiting citizens of Serbia from entering Kosovo-Metohija.
