The Serbian government expressed today a deep concern over the decision made by the interim institutions of self-government in Kosovo-Metohija to set up Kosovo armed forces and a defence ministry.
The activities of Pristina aimed at transforming the so-called Kosovo security forces into a classic armed military formation are unacceptable for Serbia and represent a violation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1244 currently in force.
KFOR are the only ones who have a mandate for all military aspects of security in the territory of Kosovo-Metohija.
Such activities lead towards destabilisation of the situation in Kosovo-Metohija and are in contrast with the process of normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, reads a statement by the Serbian government.
