Dacic pointed to the need of historical reconciliation of former adversaries, and called for respect and reverence for all victims that fell during the Serbian-Ottoman conflict that lasted for centuries.
He underlined that Serbia gives full attention to the preservation of solemn memory of the participants and victims of armed conflicts that happened in the past, especially those from the period of the First and Second Serbian Uprisings, which are the basis of the modern Serbian state.
Maybe Takovo is the place from which the peace should be called for, from which a message of reconciliation, cooperation and joint building of the future should be sent again, the First Deputy Prime Minister said.
He declared that the contemporary Serbia, in whose creation this big event played an important part, is committed to living in peace, cooperation and friendly relations with neighbouring and other European nations and states, and to building a democratic, legal state assiduously, based on respect for law and personal and civil rights and liberties.
