Participants in the meeting affirmed that Council members recognise culture as a factor contributing to sustainable development, increasing employment, and improving social status and the quality of life.
The meeting pointed out that cultural and creative industries are a source of economic growth, competitiveness, employment, sustainable development and innovation both at a national and a European level.
The Serbian and Romanian ministers of culture signed a Bucharest Declaration, highlighting further commitment to strengthening the Council of Europe’s Regional Programme for South East European Cultural and Natural Heritage.
The Council of Ministers of Culture of South East Europe was founded in Copenhagen in 2005 with the aim of distributing information on regional priorities in terms of culture and heritage, within relevant European forums, especially at meetings and working groups of the EU, the Council of Europe and UNESCO.
