Construction of central building of Novi Sad University continues

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Bozidar Djelic attended today a ceremony marking the continuation of construction of the central building of the University of Novi Sad, which was funded with €5.5 million by the Serbian government and the Capital Investment Fund of Vojvodina.

Djelic said on this occasion that construction of the central building of the university, which began 16 years ago, includes basement, ground floor, three upper floors, as well as garages and a double-purpose shelter.
This building is s proof of our difficulties, but also shows that we are able to finish what the previous generation started, the Deputy Prime Minister said.
He noted that it is important that the building will not host only the rectorate, but also the supporting institutions that demonstrate the integrated nature of the university.
Prime Minister of Vojvodina Bojan Pajtic said that investment in science and education is at the same time the investment in the future and development of the entire society.
The central building of the university which will cover the area of approximately 6,000 square meters will include an amphitheatre, multi-purpose hall, university club, central library, centre for information technologies, offices of various university services and the rectorate premises, Pajtic explained.
He added that one floor will be used by the Vojvodina government for the work of various agencies, departments and services of common interest for the development of science, education and international cooperation in these fields.
