Balkans need joint fight against illegal drug trade

The Service for Combating Organised Crime of the Ministry of the Interior held the presentation “Trends in Organised Crime in the Balkans” at the International Conference for Combating Drugs IDCE XXVIII, held in Cancun, Mexico.

A special focus of the presentation was the Balkan route of heroin since almost 80% of heroin from Western Europe goes this route, as explained by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic.
Dacic said that this is why the presence of agencies that are fighting against the illegal drug trade is needed in our region and this is the reason for an increased exchange of information with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), which last year reached the number of as many as one thousand of pieces of information.
After the presentation, various activities were proposed in working groups.
Dacic underlined that the motto of this conference is to fight together against global drugs crime.
