Support to investors, boosting liquidity of economy

Deputy Prime Minister for Economy and Regional Development Verica Kalanovic said today that the work of her cabinet is focused on support to investors, increasing the liquidity of the economy, implementing the policy of balanced regional development and the guillotine of regulations.

Kalanovic told a press conference that the Serbian economy survived a difficult period more successfully than many other countries thanks to the government’s economic measures.
She noted that her cabinet’s measures will focus on speeding up economic development and will tackle the most pressing economic issues, such as increasing employment and boosting export.
In order to scale back grey economy, the government will reduce obligations of employers allowing them to pay lower contributions for new employees in first three years.
She said that talks are underway with commercial banks on rescheduling debts of companies, after which it will be known which firms can enter this programme.
The idea is to conduct the rescheduling under the plan that interest alone will be repaid in the first year and thus the deadline for repayment of liabilities will be extended by one year, she explained.
In order to tighten discipline in the registration of new companies, a law on formation of registry of disqualified persons will be passed, in addition to law on companies which is being examined by the parliament at the moment, Kalanovic explained.
As for the implementation of guillotine of regulations, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that 67% of regulations were adopted and that 33% are yet to be adopted, and that her office will regularly provide information as to which institutions have not fulfilled their share of responsibility.
She presented her team of advisors, who are not politicians, but business people who achieved good results in their sphere of work during the hard times.
Her advisors will be Director of Metalac Dragoljub Vukadinovic, Director of Termometal Jozef Miciz, honourable CEO of Tarket Company Nikola Pavicic and construction engineer Nenad Ivanisevic.
