Police of Serbia, Hungary to cooperate in resolving issue of false asylum seekers

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic and Hungarian Minister of the Interior Sandor Pinter said today that the police cooperation between the two countries is very good and that there has been a series of joint activities that have to be continued in order to prevent organised crime, illegal migration, human trafficking and financial crime.

The meeting in Budapest especially focused on false asylum seekers who harm the visa free regime of the Schengen area with Serbia and the two officials expressed readiness to take all measures to efficiently solve this problem and prevent future cases of abuse of the right to asylum.
A proposal was given to conduct a joint control of passengers who enter the EU via Serbian-Hungarian border, because this would largely reduce the number of persons abusing the visa free regime.
At the meeting in was agreed that every year a new action plan should be made that would indentify priorities and the necessary activities.
The ministers also discussed the Danube strategy which envisages establishment of a safety system along the entire navigation course of the Danube and a developed system of protection against floods and prevention of crossborder technical technological incidents.
Dacic underlined that there can be no successful fight against crime without good cooperation and that there is a lot of room for its improvement.
