First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic today laid a wreath at the Strazevica Hill, paying respects to Serbian soldiers killed in the 1999 NATO bombing.

Dacic stressed that it is everyone’s duty to preserve the memory of the victims of bombing, stressing that we must remember those who gave their lives for our freedom.
He recalled that the first bomb in Belgrade was dropped on Strazevica, voicing his hope that Serbian citizens will never have to give their lives for their country again.
NATO bombardment of SR Yugoslavia began on 24 March 1999 and lasted 78 days, during which time 3,500 people were killed, and over 12,500 wounded, including children.
