Serbia offers assistance to Japan

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic stated today that on behalf of the Serbian government and in agreement with President Boris Tadic, he offered assistance to the Japanese government in the wake of the devastating earthquake and tsunami.

Dacic told the press at the Serbian Parliament that Serbia also offered to help international organisations and institutions in joint activities to clear up the consequences of the earthquake and quake-triggered tsunami which hit Japan, as well as to participate in these activities indirectly, through Russia and Turkey.
He recalled that several months ago he visited Japan and toured their emergency response centres.
Serbia should learn from Japan’s experience and contemplate natural disasters before they actually occur, Dacic observed.
