Bradic said at a news conference at the Centre for Study of Cultural Development, which made this agenda at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture, that this document includes information on as many as 850 events.
He added that the agenda will be available on
the Internet page of the Centre.
The idea is to update the agenda regularly, just as the cultural life in Serbia is updated daily with programmes and initiatives from public and private sectors, and such a dynamic picture of culture is what we want to develop, the Minister said.
He underlined that the cultural history is the wealth of Serbia which should be respected, but the state should also think about the perspective it offers, because the use of culture and cultural heritage are in the function of economy and development.
Director of the Centre for Study of Cultural Development Aleksandar Lazarevic said that the objectives of the project are to inform the public, as well as to provide assistance to local self-governments, tourism organisations and institutions of culture.
Lazarevic stressed that there is great economic potential in linking culture and tourism, and presented the data that in Europe, income from cultural tourism accounts for more than 35% of the total income from tourism.
State Secretary for Tourism of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development Goran Petkovic said that there is a strong link between cultural events and tourism and added that polls show that foreign visitors to Serbia are most strongly impressed by the general atmosphere, friendly people, entertainment and gastronomy, which is often linked precisely to cultural and tourist events.
Petkovic said that last year Beerfest, Brass Band Festival in Guca and Exit Festival recorded the highest number of visitors and voiced hope that the agenda will draw attention to some small, but important events such as the Fifer Festival in Prislonica.
