A special programme was held at the Rajac wineries, a unique architectural complex of wine cellars first recorded around the mid-19th century, which Serbia has proposed to be inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
Minister Bradic recalled the significance of this complex and said that with the help of local residents, the local self-government and the state the wine cellars can reach their full potential.
The Minister opened a new permanent exhibition at the National Museum in Zajecar, noting that the Museum preserves cultural heritage of an extreme variety, richness and importance for Serbia and Europe.
Through the new permanent exhibition the story is being told of the beginnings of life in this area, about the famous Felix Romuliana archaeological site and the rich history of Zajecar and its surroundings, the Minister observed.
The main celebration ended with a visit to Felix Romuliana, an ancient complex of Roman palaces and temples, part of UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
Bradic recalled the significance of this site, noting that access roads have to be reconstructed to facilitate tourism, voicing his hope that the relevant ministries will grasp the importance of Felix Romuliana since such a blend of economy and tourism is indispensable to Serbia’s development.
