Speaking at a reception organised for the diplomatic corps, Jeremic said that this year, although full of excitement, has been the best year for Serbia's European integration process.
After a positive report from the European Commission other good news came as well, such as the unfreezing of the interim trade agreement and visa liberalisation for Serbian citizens, Jeremic said.
Speaking about the diplomatic struggle for the preservation of Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty in Kosovo-Metohija, Jeremic said that the Serbian government managed to stop the recognition of the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo.
Belgrade also managed to start a procedure before the International Court of Justice concerning the legality of the unilaterally proclaimed independence, which will have historical significance.
We are convinced of victory before the International Court of Justice in 2010, Jeremic said, after which new talks on the status of Kosovo-Metohija will follow.
Speaking about regional cooperation, Serbia has proved to be a leader and to have the strategic position in south-eastern Europe, Jeremic explained.
According to him, Serbia advocates peace and prosperity in the region and is ready to help resolve the obstacles to good neighbourly relations.
Serbia did not create those obstacles, but is willing to resolve them, in cooperation with its neighbours, taking into account Serbia's strategic goals, Jeremic said.
He thanked diplomats accredited in Belgrade for accepting the invitation of the Serbian Foreign Ministry to bring presents for the children in hospital in Tirsova Street to this traditional Christmas reception.
Minister Jeremic will give the presents to the children tomorrow.
