Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic was present today at the signing of an arrangement on establishing operational cooperation between the Serbian Interior Ministry and the European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders (FRONTEX) of the EU member states.
The arrangement was signed by FRONTEX Executive Director Ilkka Laitinen and Serbian Police Director Milorad Veljovic.
Dacic stated that the agreement is an important step toward visa liberalisation and creating a safer security system.
He announced that complete modernisation of Serbian border crossings is underway and recalled that biometric readers were introduced at Belgrade airport.
Laitinen said that the arrangement will provide multi-level operational cooperation, exchange of information and experiences.
He stated that this form of cooperation was launched several months ago, greatly due to a high level of professionalism of Serbian colleagues.
Laitinen expressed satisfaction with the fact that the arrangement was signed without delay and is already in force.
