Serbian Deputy Prime Minister for EU integration Bozidar Djelic today said that an agreement was reached at the
recently finished World Economic Forum in Davos with French company Michelin to invest €10 million in Serbia.
Djelic stated to Radio B92 that an investment deal with President of
French tyre manufacturer Michelin Michel Rollier will be carried out within the next 18 months.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) expects this year’s economic growth to be 0.5%, the lowest since World War Two, he said.
According to Djelic the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) estimated that economic growth in Serbia would stand at 2.5%.
The meeting in Davos proposed the establishment of an economic security council in the UN, he said and added that 20 top countries will meet in a London summit on April 2.
Djelic also expressed his expectation that €400 million for Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) will be paid today.
He also announced a regional meeting of Balkan countries, sending a message to the EU that no fresh funds have been allocated for this part of Europe.
