European Commission mission on visit to Belgrade

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic stated that a European Commission mission arriving today in Belgrade will ascertain the real situation regarding Serbia’s progress on its “road map” towards the EU and visa liberalisation.

Dacic said he expects a positive assessment and added that the mission will stay in Belgrade until February 5.
The mission will examine Serbia’s improvement in fighting organised crime and corruption and cooperation with criminal courts, he announced.
This is the first of four missions planned to come in the next few months, Dacic said.
They will visit one police station, one border crossing and Belgrade airport to find out how state border control and protection function and test our new system for reading biometric information from personal documents, said Dacic.
We have carried out all legal and by-law preparations for furthering Serbia’s path towards the EU, so we expect a positive assessment from this expert mission, he said.
