Michelin to open logistics centre in Serbia

Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic today stated that French tyre manufacturer Michelin intends to open a logistics centre in Serbia over the next 18 months.
Djelic told the Tanjug news agency that according to the agreement he reached in Davos with a top Michelin official, Michel Rollier, the financial aspects of the project will be agreed upon during the next visit of Michelin representatives to Belgrade.
We discussed the possibility of increasing production from six million tyres a year, the current output of Tigar–Michelin Company and we will keep working on that, said Djelic.
Serbia’s political and business delegation at the World Economic Forum, led by Djelic, held a series of meetings today focusing on industry, energy and high-tech technologies.
At the meeting with representatives of groups RWE and ENBW, German leaders in energy, agreement was reached on their participation in the forthcoming tender for the construction of thermal electric power plants in Serbia.
German energy companies expressed interest in taking part in projects for harnessing Serbia’s hydro potential and renewable energy sources.
An agreement was reached with Hewlett-Packard (HP) executives that Serbian representatives visit the HP centre in the Silicon Valley to examine employment possibilities for Serbian experts in HP projects.
Djelic said that at the meeting with the head of Deutsche Telekom, possibilities for technological cooperation and a strategic partnership with Telekom Srbija were explored.
Djelic also talked today with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Thomas Mirow, who confirmed that the bank will honour the arrangements concerning the construction of Corridor 10.
It was also agreed that the EBRD supports the energy and trade sectors in Serbia, said Djelic, adding that representatives of the bank accepted his proposal to examine a model of support for Srbijagas, which is in a difficult financial situation and to help with the construction of the Banatski Dvor gas storage facility and the gas supply network.
