Dinkic to meet with Fiat officials today

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic will meet today in Turin with Fiat officials to discuss future cooperation between Fiat and Kragujevac’s Zastava.
Apart from Dinkic, the Serbian delegation will comprise State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ciric and Zastava representatives, who arrived in Turin yesterday.
Dinkic last night told B92 that cooperation with Fiat has not been called into question and will certainly be realised, but Fiat’s investment in Zastava will slow down due to the global financial crisis.
The Minister added that the factory will start operating from March.
According to Dinkic, Serbia will ask Fiat to increase car production compared to last year and decrease the price of the Punto for CEFTA countries.
He pointed out that the Italian government will also support Fiat in this respect.
The Serbian government and Fiat signed an agreement on joint investment, worth €950 million, on September 29, 2008 in Belgrade, which will provide 4.750 new jobs.
