Appearing on B92 Television, Dacic said that the new service will not be financed from the state budget, but by the Ministry of the Interior.
He pointed out that the Law on the confiscation of illegally obtained property is very hard to implement, as the police must discover interrelated persons. The police staff must be educated and must cooperate with all responsible authorities and institutions.
The Minister pointed out that the police have gathered all the information concerning criminal groups, their members and activities, such as money laundering, in the so-called “White Book”.
Dacic stressed that the police can collect evidence only in cooperation with the security services and the judiciary.
He said that even the police have limited access to the “White Book”, adding that the publishing of such confidential information would only make police investigations even more difficult.
Dacic said that the Ministry is currently working on strategies for further police reform, after which the Law on police will be amended.
