Road safety bill to be adopted

First Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic said this evening that at its next session the Serbian government will adopt the road safety bill and forward it to parliament for approval.
During a visit to the Belgrade police administration Dacic said that the bill will ensure increased safety on roads, adding that a large number of recommendations were taken into account while drafting the bill.
He said that according to statistics the number of road traffic accidents in Serbia this year was much smaller than in the previous year.
Dacic appealed to representatives of the international forces in Kosovo to secure security and peaceful conditions for all the people in the southern Serbian province.
He said that today’s attack on sixteen year old Nikola Bozovic in Kosovska Mitrovica was not related to the recent arrest of former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) members in Presevo.
We expect UNMIK, KFOR and EULEX to ensure peace and security for all citizens, primarily for all Kosovo Serbs, said Dacic.
He reiterated that the arrest of the former KLA members was not a move against Albanians but part of efforts being made to uncover war crimes.
Dacic said that 44 Serbs suspected of war crimes have been handed over to the Hague tribunal and in the case of the Albanians arrested in Presevo the police were acting according to orders given by the Serbian war crimes prosecutor’s office.
He said that there is strong evidence, including photographs, against the former KLA members, adding that one of them, according to UNMIK sources took part in the persecution of Kosovo Serbs in March 2004.
