Poland thanks Serbian police for rescuing Polish tourists

Polish Ambassador to Serbia Maciej Szymański handed over a letter of gratitude to First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic and members of the police, who were involved in rescuing Polish citizens following a traffic accident on July 11, 2008.

Szymański said that Serbian police members acted in the right way, reacting quickly and efficiently to save the passengers. He also noted that it is necessary to establish cooperation between Serbian and Polish police.
Dacic said that the Serbian police did everything to lessen the tragedy of July 11 and to aid the victims.
He announced that the Ministry will work on improving traffic safety and called on the public to give their opinion on the draft law on traffic safety.
Six Polish tourists were killed in a road accident near Indjija on July 11 this year.
