Serbia, Croatia sign agreement on police cooperation

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic and Croatian Minister of the Interior Tomislav Karamarko signed today in Zagreb a bilateral agreement on police cooperation, with particular focus on the prevention of organised crime.

Good police cooperation is vital for the stability of the whole region, Dacic said after the signing.
He stressed that Serbia and Croatia have good police cooperation, which should be even better in the future and result in the signing of an agreement on cooperation between the Serbian and Croatian interior ministries.
Organised crime knows no borders and ethnic differences and operates all over the region, said Dacic, adding that the people who killed Croatian journalist Ivo Pukanic had passports from several former Yugoslav republics.
According to Dinkic, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro must convey a clear message that none of these countries will provide a shelter for criminals.
Karamarko said that this agreement should be a guarantee of peace and stability.
