Serbian economists at UN committee for monitoring global crisis

Deputy Prime Minister for EU Integration Bozidar Djelic today met with former World Bank senior vice president and Nobel Prize winner for economics in 2001 Joseph Stiglitz.

Renowned Serbian economists also attended the meeting, namely Dejan Soskic, Pavle Petrovic, Jurij Bajec, Mihailo Aradarenko and Bosko Zivkovic.
Djelic said that Serbia is doing all it can to mitigate the impact of the crisis on Serbian economy, stressing the necessity of its inclusion in the work of the UN committee.
Stiglitz stated his view of the current economic situation and noted the importance of the UN General Assembly’s committee for monitoring the global crisis.
As chairman of the committee, he invited Serbian economists to join in the committee’s work and draft a document on the impact of the current crisis on Serbia and the Western Balkans, as well as possible ways to overcome it.
