Transitional Trade Agreement with EU in force from January 1

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic last night stated it has been agreed to start implementing the Transitional Trade Agreement with the EU from January 1, 2009.
Dinkic told the press that at his initiative, the agreement was reached last night at a meeting with President Boris Tadic and Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic.
Implementation of the Transitional Trade Agreement is important because the EU will now be expected to support macroeconomic reforms in Serbia, therefore it is only logical that Serbia begins implementing it, said the Minister.
He noted that after solving certain technical problems, the government should today discuss the draft budget for 2009. In case it does not adopt it today, it will do so on December 5 at the latest and forward it to parliament for debate.
According to him priorities in the 2009 budget will be the construction of Corridor 10, realisation of the contract with Fiat and ensuring exports of €1 billion a year, as well as active employment measures.
Dinkic added that the first version of the draft budget did not envisage the implementation of the transitional trade agreement with the EU from January 1.
