Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic said that Serbia needs to obtain a firm guarantee that the gas pipe line South Stream will run through the country.
Dinkic told B92 that the sale of oil company Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) and the South Stream gas pipeline should be included in the energy deal package.
He said that Gazprom’s delegation said they will not have the feasibility study ready until mid-2010, after which they should make a decision on whether to build the pipe line or not.
If the NIS sale contract is signed, Serbia would be sure to receive the gas pipe line, he noted.
