Djelic to open photographic exhibition in Paris

Deputy Prime Minister for EU integration, Bozidar Djelic, will open the photographic exhibition "Applied Nostalgia", at the Serbian Cultural Centre in Paris tomorrow as part of his official visit to France.

The exhibition will showcase photographs of Paris by Serbian artist Nebojsa Babic and photographs of Belgrade by France’s Vinciane Verguethen. Both artists spent seven days in the two capitals striving to capture the atmosphere, people and architecture reminiscent of their respective hometowns.
Citizens of Belgrade will be able to view the photos at the French Cultural Centre on December 16 and the exhibition will mark the end of France’s EU presidency.
The project began last year during Portugal’s EU presidency when Dragoljub Zamurovic and Fernando Veludo exhibited their photographs in Belgrade and Lisbon.
The project aims to promote Serbia in the EU, as well as European values and ideas in Serbia. Next year it will continue with an exhibition of photographs of Belgrade and Prague once the Czech Republic takes over the EU’s rotating presidency on January 1, 2009.
The project was organised by the Deputy Prime Minister’s cabinet with the support of the European Movement in Serbia, the French Cultural Centre in Belgrade and the Serbian Cultural Centre in Paris.
The project was endorsed by the French embassy in Belgrade and Renault, BS Processor, Epson, Lafarge, Air France and Pricewaterhouse Coopers.
