Stability for foreign investors in Serbia

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Ivica Dacic stated today that the Ministry will do all it can to ensure stability for the economy and foreign business in Serbia.

At a meeting of representatives of domestic and foreign companies and banks, devoted to foreign investments, Dacic announced that the Ministry of Interior is monitoring activities regarding the construction of the main gas pipe line and the Pan-European oil pipe line through Serbia.
He noted that business stability is important for the Serbian economy and said that his Ministry will make sure that Serbia does not become a target for forms of crime which are not possible in EU countries.
According to him, one of the crucial tasks in the upcoming period will be safety controls on Corridor 10, where, apart from traffic accidents, many forms of criminal activity also take place.
Dacic recalled that his Ministry proposed a set of new laws aimed at bringing Serbia closer to the EU, and recalled that last week the Law on border protection and the Law on foreigners were adopted.
He said that biometric passports, already being issued, are a requirement for Serbia’s inclusion into the Schengen “white list”.
Serbia is also cooperating with police forces in the Western Balkans to increase efficiency, said the Minister, adding that the Serbian Interior Ministry signed an agreement on strategic cooperation with EUROPOL, which is an important step in Serbia’s EU integration.
Dacic said that during the first 100 days of the Ministry’s term in office, the police ensured public safety at over 12,000 various gatherings attended by nearly five million people.
The Minister said that the situation in the ground safety zone and the municipalities of Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac in southern Serbia was kept stable, despite numerous challenges.
